Data Collection & Coding:
1. Collect the cartoons depicting issues related to undocumented workers in the U.S. from diverse news sources. In other words, do not use the same newspaper or cartoonist for all of your cartoons, or limit to ones from only “liberal” or “conservative” news sources. Cartoons should represent diverse opinions.
2. Collect a minimum of 30 cartoons published in 2007-2009. Divide the work of collecting the cartoons among team members. Include both domestic and international cartoons.
3. Teams meet during class time to code and analyze the cartoons.
4. Cartoons and coding sheets are organized into a folder or notebook to submit with the team essay or multimedia project. Include full citation information for the cartoons (e.g., date, news source, cartoonists). Be sure to number each cartoon and staple coding sheet to each. Notebooks are required for ALL teams.

Project 2!

As we all know, project 2 is on "gender: Palin and Clinton". We are going to be studying editorial cartoons, and printing out a whole bunch of them to make a binder, and turn in. We'll get further verification on whether or not we should make a powerpoint as well, but regardless, save all your links.

Here's how we are going to split up the work before our meeting next tuesday (just lemme know if you find this to be unfair, it's the only way I could think of splitting it up.)

Alex - You will be finding cartoons about Palin, use these two websites.

I will go through all four sites and pick out all my favorites, see how they match up.

Remember, get ten from each, which adds up to 20 cartoons that you have to find. Try to save the picture (right click + Save image as.. - for PC, Cmd click on mac), as well as the link to it. Try not to get them mixed up.

Save them all on your hard drive and on our meeting on tuesday we'll code everything.
